🛒 First Things First: Groceries & Essentials

Before heading up the mountain, we recommend stopping at Weis in Brunswick for groceries and snacks. It’s your best nearby full-service option and a convenient stop on your way in.

Need something small or last-minute? M&S Mart in Knoxville (just off Route 340) is a local convenience store with basics, drinks, and snacks.

🚶‍♀️ Scenic Walks & Nature Fixes

Antietam Creek Campground Trail – Want a quiet walk along the water? Map to Antietam Creek Campground and look for parked cars along the path. This is a mellow trail by the river, perfect for a peaceful stroll or dog walk.

  • Maryland Heights Trail – Iconic hike with sweeping views over the rivers and Harpers Ferry. It’s a bit of a workout, but absolutely worth it.

  • C&O Canal Towpath – Flat and scenic, perfect for biking, running, or a shaded walk. Accessible from Brunswick or Harpers Ferry.

  • Gathland State Park – Light trails, Civil War history, and picnic spots. Peaceful and often overlooked.

  • Jefferson Rock – Short walk with a big payoff: panoramic views of town and the rivers.

  • Weverton Cliffs – Part of the Appalachian Trail, this 1.5-mile uphill hike leads to some of the best views in the region.

They often have live music and food trucks on weekends.

Harpers Ferry Brewing – Sitting on a ridge with stunning views of the Potomac River, this brewery is a must for craft beer lovers. They have a large selection of rotating taps, outdoor seating, and often host live music or food trucks. Family- and dog-friendly, it's a fun, casual stop for an afternoon drink.
